Nickelodeon Fright Fest

My niece and nephew is a big fan of Nickelodeon. No one can touch the channel once they are tuned in to their favorite programs. They were ecstatic and can’t wait to go on a trick or treat as soon as their Mama announced that they will be attending Nickelodeon Halloween party.

My sister who was looking forward to an exciting experience for her kids spent more than Php2,000 to get 4 four tickets to this event. You can get 2 tickets for a “minimum purchase of Php1,000 of any toy (inclusive of Halloween item/s) at participating Toy Kingdom stores”.

I have things to do in MOA that day, so together with my sister and her family, their yaya and another niece we drove to SMX. When we first walk towards the entrance door we noticed just a small cluster of kids in their crazy cute costumes. My niece came dressed as a Witch, which until now she claims as a Black Fairy and not a witch. And my nephew who was dressed in a Ghost costume was already making his way to the hall doing his phantom stint. He didn’t look as scary as he thought he was. They were amusing. These are the joys of having kids, especially smart ones.

The assembly hall was packed with kids and adults alike. Everyone was waiting for the party to start. All sorts of princesses, witches, superheroes, ghosts and scary creatures were present. I wonder if there were kids dressed as angels. Halloween doesn’t have to mean creepy costumes only, right?

After getting a couple of shots, I, with the yaya and niece, left for MOA. We were back in SMX in just over an hour. We stayed at the coffee shop inside SMX. There were people leaving already so I tried my luck if I can get inside the main hall. The big doors were closed and would only open if someone’s getting out. I wonder why people were leaving early. I learned the details after.

The Halloween event hosted by Nickelodeon last October 31 at the SMX Convention Center was a big success. That is, if the only qualification to tag an event as successful is the number of attendees. Yes, there were a lot of people, a big crowd indeed. And that was the setback of this supposed delightful event.

Nickelodeon delivered their promise in providing game booths, photo ops, freebies, on-stage programs and special episode screening. We believed that some did have a fun-filled day. But there were also some who felt tricked than treated.
The main hall was jam-packed with people. My brother-in-law almost tripped over in two instances because the crowd behind them kept on pushing them. The kids were being pressed forward, such a pity. The lines to the booths were also long. I guess they should limit the attendance next time. The only best part for my niece and nephew in this experience was being able dress up for the Halloween. Plus the new toy they got as bribe to keep them from grumbling. They eventually left the party early with big disappointment in their faces.
